As the younger and older members of Wrexham Fencing Club were trying to cover themselves in glory at different fencing locations this weekend, several of our top fencers set their sights on success at The Nottingham Open.

Ben Roberts and David Charles-Hendy both entered the men’s foil. In a field containing over 80 starters, Ben finished 16th and David 55th. The Wrexham men’s entrants were completed by Daniel Lumb in the sabre. Having not fenced competitively for a little while, Daniel put up a great display and finished 9th.

Pride of place went to Carolyn Benson in the women’s foil. Having recently moved into 8th place in the senior British ranking list, Caz continued her good run of form. After losing in the last four fight to the eventual winner, Caz picked up another well deserved bronze.
