One of the oldest fencing competitions in the country attracted many of Wrexham Fencing Club’s members this weekend.
Adverse weather conditions, illness and competition fixtures, all conspired to delay George Dolan in receiving his Wrexham Fencing Club, Leon Paul Junior Series Fencer of the Year 2009 award. Last Friday (19th February 2010), George was finally presented with his trophy, by Wrexham Fencing Club Head Coach, Mike Norfolk.
The newly formed British Fencing Academy will be up and running as from this Saturday (20th February 2010). The idea is to target fencers in their cadet years and British Fencing aims to be world leading by 2020. This includes having fencers who are capable of challenging for medals at every major championship.
David Gregory took his British Senior International bow last weekend (Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th February 2010) in Lisbon, Portugal.
Well, after a fair bit of work we’ve finally got the new site back up and running as it should be!
Plans are now well under way for a visit from LTV Fechten Club Ludenscheid, for a return fencing competition after our visit to Germany last year.
With over 200 entrants in the girl’s Under 15 foil competition and fencers from 26 different nations, including Japan and America, this weekend’s C.E.P. Paris Marathon is probably the biggest competition of its kind in the world.
Once more, Wales’ number one ranked female foilist put in an excellent performance, this time at the Slough Open over weekend (Sunday 7thFebruary 2010).
George Morris’s continued fencing improvement, brought him more silverware at the weekend.
