Stephanie Collister and Bethany Ellis represented Wrexham Fencing Club on Saturday (21/03/09), at the Eton Leon Paul Junior Series, near to London. Steph was in the Under 15 girls foil and Beth in the Under 11 girls foil. Eton is always a very well attended competition and of a good standard; this year was no exception. Sunday 15th March 2009, saw Jon Lambert continue his great start to this years Leon Paul Junior Series. Competing in the Under 17 epee at Arnold, Jon was trying to take maximum points for the second competition on the run. After winning the Ashton event, Jon went into the competition full of confidence.

Wrexham Fencing Club has yet another reason to celebrate. Lydia Johnson has been selected to represent Great Britain at Senior Level. The 23 year old foilist from Wrexham, has been continually knocking on the door of the senior British Squad and her unquestioned dedication, professionalism and ability has at last been rewarded. Wrexham Fencing Club foilists, showed Ireland why the club is such a success at the weekend (14/03/09). Ben Roberts, Lydia Johnson, Carolyn Benson and Stephanie Collister all flew across the Irish Sea to compete in the foil event at The Belfast Open. Let’s hope that Customs and Excise are in a generous mood and will allow them back into Liverpool Airport with their haul of medals.
I would like to say a big thank you to Gareth who organised the competition with great aplomb and expertise. Our referees Carolyn, Stephanie, Ben, Dan, David and also the visiting Referees, you all did a great job with no fuss.
